NEFC
Youth Academy Program 2011-2012
Mission Statement
"Helping Players Reach Their Potential"
The Youth Academy Program accepts all players from 6 to 11 years old, there are no 'tryouts' for the Academy. All players will train in small groups broken up by age and ability. No player will be "cut" from the program. The Youth Academy Program is designed to maximize player development. Each player will be challenged in a fun, safe, professional coaching environment, so that each player will reach their own potential. The focus is ball mastery and skill/technique development.

NEFC operates it's Youth Academy Program in each of its four regions: North (Marlborough, Northborough), Metrowest (Holliston, Norfolk), South Shore (Braintree, Canton), and South Coast (Dartmouth, New Bedford, and Fall River).
Youth Academy Players interested in playing on league teams must attend at least one tryout session. The selection of players for the MAPLE teams will come exclusively from the players registered in the Youth Academy Program. Those interested in playing on these teams should contact the Youth Academy Program Director, Michael Rugnetta, or on the South Coast, Director Patrick Marino.
Those players not on MAPLE/NEP teams will have the opportunity to compete weekly in our own Development League, created to maximize touches on the ball and player involvement. Games will be a 4 v 4 or 5 v 5 format, and players will compete both with other NEFC teams, and other clubs in the area. Players are put into a fun, competitive, safe environment where they will learn to make decisions and solve problems on their own during games.
The training is very efficient, encompassing all four components of soccer (technical, tactical, psychological and physical) in every session. Players are broken up into training groups with a small player to coach ratio based on age and ability. Everyone is invited; no cuts are made, in an attempt to improve every youth players to their maximum potential, and at their own individual pace. Players are encouraged to be creative and think on the field for themselves, an invaluable life skill, even after soccer.
The primary focus at this level is the development of fundamental skills in a fun environment with the beginnings of structured team play. Staffed by uniquely qualified, professional coaches, these young athletes learn the basics of the game and are introduced to playing small sided games to maximize touches and involvement in the game. The goal of this program is to prepare the athlete for the Junior Program and full participation in the Mass Premier League (MAPLE), as well as the NEP(New England Premiership).
Developing players from the youngest ages is NEFC's priority, and ensures the longevity of the club as a leader in youth development in New England.
