Youth Academy Program

The primary focus at this level is the development of fundamental skills in a fun environment with the beginnings of structured team play. Staffed by uniquely qualified, professional coaches, these young athletes learn the basics of the game and are introduced to playing small sided games to maximize touches and involvement in the game. The goal of this program is to prepare the athlete for the Junior Program and full participation in the Mass Premier League (MAPLE), and NEP(New England Premiership).
Developing players from the youngest ages is NEFC's priority, and ensures the longevity of the club as a leader in youth development in New England.

Youth Academy Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the time commitment?
A: Players are expected to attend session to develop their ability to play soccer. If players don’t attend, they will not develop. There is no attendance taken, no punishment for missing sessions, the more sessions attended, the more rapid the player development.

Q: Where are the fall/spring sessions held?
A: There will be sessions 5 days per week, somewhere, and players can attend whichever fits their schedule. A tentative schedule is:
Monday - Berlin Memorial School, Berlin
Tuesday - Marshall St, Holliston
Wednesday - Oak Grove, Millis
Thursday – Pond St, Norfolk
Friday – ForeKicks Marlboro

Q: Where are the winter sessions held?  and How much is the winter session?
A: The full schedule can be found at:http://www.nefc.us/trainingschedules/metrowest/northfall2011schedule, and please check for updates regularly.  The cost for the winter only is $400.

Q: Do I have to attend every session?
A: No, pick the ones that fit your schedule.

Q: Are there games, or only training sessions?
A: Players need games to put into use those things we learn in training, so yes there are games in the fall and spring. The Youth Academy meets for 9 Sundays in the Fall, and 7 Sundays in the Spring, and we have inter-academy games. With 4 regions of players, this provides some friendly, yet competitive games for players of all experience levels. Games are small sided, so players are always involved and touching the ball.  For the winter, there will be optional teams formed from Academy players for various indoor leagues.

Q: Do all the players train together?
A: Players are grouped in the training sessions by age and ability to maximize development. They are constantly moving from group to group as they develop, rather than being ‘stuck’ in a group for the full year where some players may or may not develop as rapidly as others. This fluidity gives players a chance to develop at their own pace, as they will be constantly challenged by their piers as well as their coaches.

Q: What is the cost for the Youth Academy?
A: The full year, which includes unlimited access to weekday sessions for 30 weeks, Sunday am inter-NEFC games is $1100.  Seasonal pricing is also available, andmay be higher than the full year, when registering for each season on it's own.  The fees are prorated monthly as the year goes on, so players can join anytime.  There is a required uniform as well that will be purchased seperately through our online Adidas store.

Q: Do I have to commit to the full year, or can I go season to season?
A: It is preferred that players are with us for the year, to provide maximum development, but players can join at anytime, and even season by season, as their schedule permits.

Q: Do I have to pay all at once?
A: There are payment plans available upon registration.

Q: How do I register?
A: www.NEFC.us click on Join NEFC, then register for the appropriate Youth Academy option.
